Start with a Good Image:
|
| By a good image I don't mean only that cute baby's face significant other, friend or family member. Of course they have a good image... Beyond the fact that you have a great looking family and friends there are a few other considerations. |
|
| Good Resolution : |
| No I do not mean New Years Resolution. This type of resolution has to do with the number of pixels in an image. Digital images are made up of tiny dots called pixels which form the entire picture. The more pixels your photo has, the more clarity and detail it will retain as you increase its dimensions. Resolution can sometimes be expressed by the width and height of the image as well as the total number of pixels it contains. For example, an image that is 1600 pixels wide and 1200 pixels high (1600 x 1200) contains 1,920,000 pixels—or almost two megapixels (two million pixels). Whew that's a lot of pixel dust... |

| Format - Choosing Your Extension: |
| An format is a type of style type you set by the last three letters after your pictures name. The JPEG format (example: family.jpg) is preferable for e-mailing photos, because it results in smaller, compressed files—ideal for sending electronically. However for best printing results, always save your pictures in the TIFF format (example: family.tiff). Although this format results in a somewhat larger file size, it will produce the most satisfactory results. Confused? This is what you save your picture as from an editing program. / File / Save AS / family.tiff |

Print - The Big Question -
Save to a CD or Print from your Home Printer? |
| Saving to a CD and getting a professional colored picture is the best way to assure your photographs will be frame worthy. Printer ink costs can really add up if you print a lot of pictures and you can take that CD to lots of places to get your pictures printed. Your pictures will also be safe from hard drive failures or a crashed computer. You can also email your photos directly to some facilities for printing but again they are not safe on the CD. I recommend saving them to CD for future use or even viewing on your computer. |
